Check out a few of these WINTER moving tips to help YOUR move go smooth! #BozemanMovers #OnTheMoveTips

How To Move In The Cold Months

  1. First things first, make sure the heat/light is in working order at any locations where items will be moved. The daylight will lessen in the winter, plus temperatures will be lower because of the movers going in/out.
  2. Be sure to clear all snow/ice from walkways at your all locations where there will be traffic. Get plenty of Ice Melt, salt, sand, etc. if the walkways are icy so that you can avoid the risk of falls. It is also important to prepare your walkways the day prior in case of bad conditions. (This also includes parking spots/driveways)
  3. Protect your inside areas with floor runners or flat pieces of cardboard. Moving in the winter can be pretty messy, but you can save some of the stress by laying cardboard or plastic in the entryways of your home prior to the move. This saves the internal flooring as well as time for the movers on moving day.
  4. Keep warm clothes, winter gear, and supplies on hand. It’s a good idea to stock up on winter supplies in case your vehicle or the moving truck becomes inoperable. Throughout the move, it’s important to monitor the conditions and act on any changes as necessary.
  5. In case of an emergency make sure to have a Plan B or Plan C! If conditions become too harsh or there are any safety concerns, make sure you and your moving company are on the same page and have a back-up day planned.
  6. Last, but certainly not least, make sure you prepare for the worst conditions and that you have emergency contacts on hand.
